V0.2.2 Release


Hello! Hope you're doing well today. For this update, I was mainly looking to add in the ability to move inventory items around and craft items, since both are incredibly important for this genre of game. Luckily, I was successful in adding both of these features :)

There are currently 8 items you can currently craft, based on wood and stone. There will be significantly more later.

It's also worth mentioning that while you can create armor pieces, you can't actually equip them yet. I'm looking to implement that next build, although it will likely be a bit longer before the armor will actually show up on your person.

Adding in enemies (with combat), expanding the level and growing the crafting list are all things I'm aiming to complete before I release early builds of the game to the public. I'm guessing these things will take at least a month to add in, but it's hard to say this early.

Also this is premature, but I've been thinking about how I want the game to start. I'd like to create a linear level that showcases a bit of platforming and combat, but hold off on mining or placing blocks/items until after players complete it. It should help establish the storyline, some characters and the basic controls.

Here is the list of changes and fixes for version 0.2.2:

- An animation now occurs for placing blocks

- Organized/refactored the code for drawing the game into separate files and functions

- Added in basic lighting. This amounts to darkness being applied to blocks that aren't connected to the air. As a result, it is very imperfect and limited.


- Hovering the mouse over items in the hot bar will display their name, and possibly some info

- Items in the inventory can be switched around.


- Added some status effect UI: burning, poison

- Changed inventory UI to make backgrounds semi-transparent

- Added the ability to craft a limited set of items: Wooden and stone equipment (only wooden equipment is shown in this gif as it was taken earlier).


- Swords swing based on their speed modifier. A higher speed percentage equates to faster swing speeds.

- Added weapons: Greatsword, Flamberge, Greatsword of Sunlight, Stone Sword

- Added armor: Wood Sword, Wood Helmet, Wood Body Armor, Wood Boots, Stone Boots

- Added new blocks: Stone, Mythril Ore

-- Fixes --

- Fixed a bug where using up all of an item (such as placing blocks until they run out) would cause a crash.
